Zeigler’s Area Youth Photo Contest

Open to Zeigler Area Residents

Ages 5 - 18

Entry Forms available at: City HallPublic Library.

Sponsored by Zeigler Civic ALive Action Group(ZCAL), Zeigler Public Library, Southern Illinois Bank, Snider Insurance Agency, Vantrease Funeral Home, Noah King Trucking, Concepte of Illinois

All entry forms and printed photos must be received at the City Hall No later than 3P.M. November 30t – Judging will be accomplished during the week of December 1st-3rd.  Winning Entries will be announced at Noon on December 4th at Zeigler’s Public Library.

Entrants under 18 years of age must submit a release from a parent or guardian.

Entrant must live in the Zeigler-Royalton’ School District

Category 1:  People    (1st, 2nd) 1st – (Blue), 2nd (RED), 3rd (Yellow)

Category 2:  Nature    (1st, 2nd) 1st – (Blue), 2nd (RED), 3rd (Yellow)

Category 3:  Around Zeigler    (1st, 2nd) 1st – (Blue), 2nd (RED), 3rd (Yellow)

Area Youth Photo Contest Rules:

1. The competition is open to amateurs only.
2. Must live in school in the Zeigler-Royalton School district.
3. Photos must be taken by entrant only. Parent may help with transfer of pictures from camera to print. Parent may not do modifications. Parents can assist in framing of picture.  Frames are not required: mats or mount boards are recommended.
4. Entries may be color or black and white film or digital and taken from a camera.
5. Digital manipulation is authorized.
6. No Slides.
7. Photos are to be submitted in printed format and be 11” x 14” or smaller.
8. Up to 3 photos may be entered by entrant and each photo must be in a different category. Each photo must have its’ own entry form.
9. Entrant must be the sole author and owner of the copyright in all photos entered.
10. Entrant’s Name and phone number (Parent’s Name must be included) must be on the back of all entries.
11. Entry photos must not have been in any commercial publication or a previous winner of any other contest.
12. Include the following information on all photos:
1. Entrant’s Name (Parents Name must be included)
2. Phone Number of Entrant.
3. Title of Photo
4. A brief statement about your thoughts about the photo, where the photo was taken, when it was taken and the equipment used to take it.
5. Entry must be signed stating that the entrant’s entry is the work of the person submitting the image, and a signed entry form is required.  Entrants under 18 years of age must submit a release from a parent or guardian.
13. No Names, logos or writing on photo entries – These markings must be removed prior to submission.
14. No nudity or photos that may embarrass or harm another person in any way.
15. Live animals pictures: You must declare if a photo has been taken in captivity or conditions that are unnatural. If cruel or unethical practices are suspected, the photo will be disqualified.
16. Judges appointed by Zeigler Civic ALive Action Group will choose the winners.  The judges’ decision on all matters relating to the competition is final, and no correspondence will be entered into concerning the competition’s judging and Zeigler Civic ALive Action Group. The judging is by subjective method.
17. Zeigler Civic ALive Action Group assumes no responsibility for submissions or for injury during the process of the creation of the photograph and youths should be monitored by a responsible adult or parent at all times.  We highly recommend that no dangerous conditions exists with the process of creating the photograph.
18. Zeigler Civic Alive Action Groups accepts no liability for missing or lost photos.
19.  Individual photographers retain all copyright to their work, but winners authorize the use of the picture on the Zeigler’s Hometown website and release to the news media as part of the story.
20. At the end of the contest display period, all photos will be available for return to photographer at the Zeigler Public Library.  A one (1) week display period after the contest end is required for all entries. Photos may be picked up after December 11th, 2004. Photos not picked up by December 11th, 2004 will be discarded.
21. Your photographs will never be used by Zeigler Civic ALive Action Group in any manner for marketing, advertising or sale. Your photos will always receive our complete respect.  Consider your entry as your agreement that the photo can be used at the Zeigler’s Hometown website www.zeigleril.com without notification or remuneration. 

Judging:

Winning Photo entries will be chosen for based on the quality, content, and clarity of the image. The photographs will also be judged on their photographic subject matter, appeal and photographic skill. Judge’s decisions are final.
