“TALKING TO AMERICA”
Well! They’ve closed down our factory, effective today,
that’s what I was told, earlier today
“Absenteeism was high, and production was low,
and we can’t stay in business, if we can not grow”
They told us that “We have no jobs, after today,
cause we ‘ve closed down our factory...effective today”
Then I think of better times and the money I’ve spent,
and now I am facing.... Un. employment
I think of my family, and what we will do,
and our home and our car, yes I think of them too
I’ll never forget, when I heard the man say,
“We’ve closed down our factory.. .effective today”
I hope arid pray that this won’t last long,
cause what money I’ve saved, will soon be all gone
I’m thinking about bills, that will soon be past due,
and without my job, I don’t know what I will do
If I could get my job back, I’d be a much better man,
I’d work hard everyday, and do the best that I can
Maybe I could leave, and just move far away,
but I hear there’s no jobs, and it’d be the same way
I could blame the nation, and the President too,
But this is America, and that’s no way to do
I’ll have to realize, that I’m partially to blame,
and it’s up to me, to adjust to the change
I’ll find me another job, probably at less pay,
but I’ll tell you one thing, I’ll sure work every day
I’ll not sit around, and gripe and pout,
cause this is one thing, that I’m gonna work out
Oh! I know it’s sad, when you hear someone say,
“Well! I see they’ve closed another factory...effective today”
America’s strength is in it’s strong labor force,
and as American ‘s we have to stay right on course
We will all rise, right back to the top,
cause once we get started, there’s no time to stop
Together we’ll put this factory, back on its feet,
cause we can’t handle, this form of defeat
We’ll do it together, even if our chances are slim,
and by working together, united we’ll win
And it won’t be long, and we’ll hear the man say,
“We’ve opened our factory......effective today”
