LINDBERGH AIR MAIL LETTER & ENVELOPE Quite a letter from the principal of the Zeigler Community High School in 1928. The principals name was Walt W. Lauterbach. The Letter reads as follows:

Description LINDBERGH AIR MAIL ENVELOPE & LETTER Zeigler, ILL. 1928! Opened at top. Envelope measures about 7 1/2" x 4". Envelope front has: Zeigler Community High School / Zeigler, Ill. Also has (on a Horseshoe shaped stamp): LINDBERGH AGAIN FLIES THE AIR MAIL / CHICAGO / ST. LOUIS C.A.M. 2 / ST. LOUIS / MO / 2-20-28. Also stamped: AIR MAIL HOLD FOR LINDBERG. The accompanying letter has: Zeigler Community High School / W.W. Lauterbach, Principal / Zeigler, Ill. / Feb 17 1928. Letter reads in part: Dear Charles: Little will Lindy suspect that he is carrying his own picture to you. The in-closed clippings may be of interest to you. . . (*note - no clippings were found accompanying this Letter and Envelope). Envelope Postmarked (faint on front): ZEIGLER, ILL / FEB 17 / (rest to faint to read); (on back): ST. LOUIS, MO. 16 / FEB 20 / 1928. Envelope has (2) Cancelled MONROE 10 CENTS Postage Stamp. CONDITION: The Envelope is opened at top - has some wear, bends, aging/discoloration, and soiling.
