9/4/05 2005 Homecoming Festival
Zeigler's 2005 Homecoming was an astounding success - several thousand attended with many coming from out of town and state, some as far away as Kentucky, Tennessee and even California. From the Sponsors that help make the day a success to the many local organizations that were involved - it takes all in helping make the Homecoming a great Zeigler day.
Kicking off the day with a parade being led by the American Legion Post #177 and quickly followed by this year's distinguished Parade Marshall Mrs, Margurine Sheffer and then the many different communities fire and police departments, business and political floats and Zeigler's own school band as well as Benton's Elementary School Band that presents their colors each and every year at our festivities. Mayor Dennis Mitchell accomplished the Master of Ceremony announcing each and every entry in the parade to the onlookers. Speaking of the onlookers, the streets and Circle was lined and in some cases lined 5 and 6 deep to catch a glimpse of the marching band and antique cars.
Many many participated in the food and games around the Circle. Bingo, Music, Air Inflatable were abound as well as the great bike rodeo, which provides kids with a look at being safe bike riders. New this year to the Circle is Kandyland Karaoke.
As the night came upon the crowd, Deanna Freeman (Morris) presented to the onlookers a delightful flavor to their ears, which surpassed the best mouth watering taste of State Fair's best funnel cakes or strawberry shortcake ever made. Deanna, even without a band pleased our ears as the festival ending drew near. As Deanna's last notes were sang; Zeigler's firework jolted the pleased audience that accented Deanna's song and for the next 15 minutes all eyes seem to be plastered upon a pleasant amount of eye candy of fireworks.
