Bob was born June 20, 1929 in Zeigler to James F. and Rachel (Whiteside) Proctor.
He married Nancy Jean Carver December 26, 1956 in Faribault, MN.
Bob was a 1947 graduate of Zeigler High School and played football at Southern Illinois University during the 1947 and 1948 seasons. He attended the University of Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, Gamma Chapter, was a member of the Saint Pat's Board and played halfback on the 1950 University of Missouri, Rolla, Corn Bowl Championship football team. He graduated in 1951 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He served his country in the U.S. Army in 1954 to 1956 during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Proctor was the owner/operator of Proctor Supply Co. in Zeigler and Proctor Farms in Mulkeytown. He was a founding member of the Zeigler Jaycees and served as State Vice-President of the Illinois Jaycees. He was a founder and member of the Zeigler Library Foundation, was serving as president of the Christopher Rural Health Planning Corporation (Rea Clinic) Board, and was a Deacon and the Financial Officer of the United Methodist Church in Zeigler. He was also a long-time supporter of Saluki basketball. Mr. Proctor loved his family, his church, and his community.
