Old Jasper Roll Top Desk

This beautiful old roll top desk is from the Zeigler Bank in Zeigler, Illinois. It has a stamp from Jasper Desk Company inside the drawer but is hard to read. The desk is 26” deep, 36” wide and 42” long. The side drawers lock when the roll top is locked and the key is included and works but sticks sometimes. The 3 outside drawers are 20 3/8” x 5” x 11”. The under desk drawer is 17 3/16” wide x 3 7/8” deep x 20 1/8” long with no key but has a locking mechanism. The two little rear access drawers are 9” long, 4 5/6” wide and 3 ½” high with lots of stamp dates on them. The oldest stamp date found is Jan 13, 1926. The two long cubby holes are 10” long x 8 1/8” deep x 1 5/8” high and two are 10” x 8 1/8”x 1 1/8”. One inside drawer is 2 13/16’ x 10” x 8 1/8” and the other is 2”x 10” x 8 1/8”. There is lots of wear on the foot rest. The side pull out is 13 ¼” long. It is very heavy. It is believed to be made of oak or walnut, but NOT sure at all. It is well used and looks it. Beautiful well built condition and still very sturdy. The desk was sold on ebay in late 2006. Location is now unknown.
